Anual Report 2009
The year 2009 was distinguished by two events that highlighted Promundo’s commitment to eliminating inequalities between men and women and between adults and children.
From March 30th-April 3rd, we co-hosted the first Global Symposium on Engaging Men and Boys in Gender Equality in collaboration with diverse partner organizations. In December, we co-hosted the National Symposium of Human Rights for Children and Adolescents.
In 2009, we also celebrated new partnerships and moved ahead with our many local, national and international initiatives, reinforcing the importance of involving individuals, communities and organizations in efforts for the construction of a more just and egalitarian society.

Three specific advocacy efforts by the instituition and its partners gained national recognition: the launching of a national campaign by president Lula to engage men in the elimination of violence against women; the beginning of efforts by policy-makers to expand paternity leave from the current five days to thirty days; and advances in efforts to establish a law against the corporal punishment of children.

Annual Report 2006
Collaboration with other social actors is one of Promundo’s core characteristics. In 2006, we strengthened our alliances with organizations in Brazil and internationally and extended our activities to countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. The alliances and activities were focused on the exchange of experiences and the adaptation of our methodologies to other cultural contexts.
Focusing on social change, Promundo believes in the richness of trading experiences. Nothing listed on this report would have been achieved without the collective effort of various social actors and organizations.

In 2004, Promundo’s programmatic mission was reformulated to prioritize the development, evaluation and dissemination of social technologies.
Among the year’s activities, Promundo lead the formation of Program H Alliance H (Alianca H), a global alliance of organizations that seek the promotion of gender equity among youth. Promundo also developed two new complimentary projects: Project D, which was devoted to the reduction of homophobia among youth, and Project M, that sought to encourage the empowerment of young women in low income communities.
In the same year, due to positive experiences in Program H in various parts of the world, Promundo was selected by Brazil’s National STD and AIDS Program (Programa Nacional de DST e AIDS) to participate in the International Centre for Technical Cooperation ( Centro Internacional de Cooperacao Tecnica).
Annual Report 2003
In 2003, Promundo passed through a period of growth and restructuring. The accelerated growth of the institution in terms of projects, staff, and budget increased the volume of work and the complexity of the administrative and management needs. Further support was given to coordinators in technical areas (Youth, Gender and Health, and Families and Communities.)
