Men, Women and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in Four Cities in Brazil: Results of a Qualitative and Quantitative Study (2013)
Márcio Segundo, Marcos Nascimento, Danielle Araújo, Tatiana Moura, Promundo
The phenomenon of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (CSE) involves cultural, social, economic, political and legal factors. Aspects related to subjectivity, culture, values, norms and social representations link ESCCA to other aspects of broader social life. Recognizing the influence of social determinants linked to the field of culture and values, although still with little effect on intersectoral policies, becomes an important step in social mobilization to combat ESCCA.
In order to contribute to this debate, Promundo, with the support of the Oak Foundation, carried out a study to map and understand the perceptions of men and women about ESCCA in four cities in Brazil, seeking to understand to what extent the attitudes of men and women Women contribute to its perpetuation.
